Leeds City College are recruiting for an ESOL teacher to join our team on a part time, reduced year and fixed term basis.

Our Adult provision was graded Outstanding by Ofsted in May 2022 and again in 2025. We teach Monday to Thursday from 09:30 to 21:00 and Fridays from 09:30 to 15:00.

This is a part-time, reduced year (37 weeks), fixed term role until July 2026. You will work two evenings per week, totalling 7.4 hours. This includes 5 hours of teaching from 6:30pm to 9:00pm, plus 2.4 hours of non-teaching duties scheduled around the teaching time.

This position has the potential to move into additional hours or a permanent post later. It would suit someone who has work elsewhere but looking for additional part-time work. This is teaching adults only.

What You Will Do
  • Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
  • Develop the essential knowledge and understanding to teach ESOL learners.
  • Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course.
  • Monitor students to achieve their targets and develop their skills to enable progression.
About You
  • You should hold a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE, Delta). Celta is not recognised in the UK as a full teaching qualification, but successful applicants can be supported to complete a L5 Teaching Qualification with the college with department financial support.
  • English and Maths at Level 2 or above and a willingness to improve in one or both disciplines to level 3 or above.
  • Have experience teaching ESOL to adults in a UK college; not just EFL or pre-sessional.
  • Ability to plan and deliver quality teaching across identified modules.
