About The Role

Shape the Future of Legal Education in College‑Based HE. University Centre Leeds is seeking an experienced and ambitious HE Programme Manager to take forward our LLB, Access to Law and CILEX provision at an exciting point in our development.

This is not simply a curriculum management role. It is an opportunity to shape, influence and grow a distinctive Law portfolio within a dynamic and expanding higher education environment.

As part of a forward‑thinking University Centre within Luminate Education Group, you will join a leadership team that values autonomy, innovation, and clear ownership of performance. We are proud of our student‑centred ethos and strong outcomes, and we are ambitious about what comes next.

If you are currently leading or contributing significantly to Law provision in FE or college‑based HE and are ready for broader strategic influence, this role offers genuine scope to make your mark.

Considering a Move from Legal Practice?

We recognise that exceptional Law leaders don’t only develop within education settings. If you are currently working in legal practice, criminal justice, compliance, or a related professional field and are considering a move into higher education, we would be very interested in hearing from you.

You May Bring
  • Significant professional experience within the legal sector
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or developing colleagues or trainees
  • A desire to shape the next generation of legal professionals
  • An interest in curriculum development and professional education

We welcome applicants with strong industry credibility and leadership potential. If you do not yet hold a teaching qualification, we will support you in gaining one as part of your development.

This is an opportunity to transition from practice into a role where you can influence professional standards, widen participation into legal careers, and shape future legal education.

What You Will Do

You will provide strategic and operational leadership across the Law provision, ensuring excellence in:

  • Quality assurance, validation and academic standards
  • Retention, achievement, attendance and progression
  • Curriculum review and enhancement
  • Apprenticeship and workplace assessment (including EPA preparation)
  • Staff performance, development and wellbeing
  • External stakeholder engagement and partnership development

You will teach as part of the role, lead internal verification and moderation processes, oversee course‑level SAR and QIP activity, and play a proactive role in validation events and examination boards. This is a highly visible role with influence across the University Centre and the wider Group.

About You
  • Has recent experience delivering and leading Law provision in Higher Education or college‑based HE or relevant industry practice
  • Understands regulatory and quality frameworks and can confidently lead validation and review processes
  • Has experience managing staff performance and building high‑performing teams
  • Has substantial experience of internal verification, moderation, and apprenticeship assessment
  • Is comfortable using data to drive improvement in retention and achievement
  • Is committed to scholarly activity and professional development
  • Holds an L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE) and a relevant highest‑level vocational qualification or degree/MA in teaching subject

You will combine academic credibility with practical leadership skills and bring energy, clarity, and integrity to the role.

Why University Centre Leeds?
  • A growing HE environment within a strong and supportive Group
  • Clear ownership and autonomy at programme level
  • A culture rooted in collaboration, wellbeing and high standards
  • Opportunity to influence strategic direction within a developing portfolio

If you are ready to move beyond maintaining provision and into shaping its next phase of development, we would welcome your application.
