About the Role

Leeds City College is seeking a Commercial & Apprenticeship Lead Skills Teacher with specialist subject expertise for our Motor Vehicle department based at Printworks Campus. We welcome applications from individuals with industry experience who are seeking to transition into teaching, as well as those with a background in education.

You will teach Apprentice & Commercial students in our fully kitted Motor Vehicle workshop. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding area of the curriculum that boasts continued learner success and achievement.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • You will teach learners on apprenticeship & Commercial programmes across all levels of Motor Vehicle.
  • Deliver the following programmes:
    Level 2 Autocare;
    Level 3 Service maintenance & Repair.
  • Provide current, specialist subject expertise in a skills shortage area for teaching delivery.
  • Maintain links with the sector and ensure the curriculum content reflects the latest industrial or professional practice.
  • Keep the curriculum delivery team informed of latest sector developments and provide recent CPD and industrial updates.
  • Prepare and teach Motor Vehicle Service (PHEV, Electric Vehicle) and Repair courses.
  • Contribute to aspirational teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Keep accurate records of learners’ progress in college.
  • Possess in‑depth knowledge of apprenticeship delivery and compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Willing to work towards an L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g., Cert Ed, PGCE).
  • Willing to work towards an assessor qualification.
  • Hold a relevant vocational / technical qualification or degree in teaching subject.
  • Relevant recent experience in the industry area and clear expertise.
  • Relevant up‑to‑date subject knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of apprenticeships.
  • Appreciation of relational practice.
