About the Role

We are seeking a resilient, passionate, and adaptable SEMH PE Teacher who genuinely understands young people and can connect with them beyond the curriculum. This role involves teaching PE across KS2-KS3 to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

ECTs and NQTs are welcomed to apply for this position.

You will be someone who can quickly learn the context of the setting, adapt your teaching style, and consistently deliver good to outstanding lessons. The ability to work independently, use initiative, and respond calmly and creatively to challenges is essential.

This is not a class-based role. You will deliver 3-4 PE lessons to each class, allowing you to focus on high-quality teaching, relationship-building, and real progress rather than form responsibilities.

We are looking for a PE teacher who:
  • Can teach Maths confidently across KS2-KS3
  • Delivers engaging, well‑structured lessons that meet SEMH needs
  • Works effectively without constant direction and uses initiative
  • Builds strong, trusting relationships with students
  • Understands behaviour as communication and responds with consistency and empathy
  • Above all, gets our students and knows how to reach them
What We're Looking For:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching SEMH or in specialist settings
  • Strong understanding of SEMH, SEND, and positive behaviour strategies
  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • Highly organised, adaptable, and proactive approach to teaching and pastoral care
  • Passion for helping pupils overcome barriers and achieve their full potential
To Be Eligible You Must:
  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Have an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service (or be willing to apply)
  • Be able to provide two professional child‑related references

Please submit your up-to-date CV to be considered. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
