Leeds City College are recruiting for a Teacher of Health, Science and Social Care, with a specialism in Science, to join us at our Quarry Hill Campus. You will play a key role in delivering on a variety of courses, including anatomy and physiology and supporting the wellbeing and personal development of learners. You will design and deliver engaging lessons that cover a wide range of health‑related topics, such as nutrition, health sciences, mental health, personal safety, relationships, and healthy lifestyle choices.
The role involves not only teaching knowledge but also inspiring positive habits, resilience, and self‑awareness in students. You'll work closely with colleagues across the school/college to ensure health education is integrated into the wider curriculum and supports the safeguarding and wellbeing agenda. This is an opportunity for someone passionate about education and health to make a real difference to young people's lives, equipping them with the knowledge and skills they need for their future careers in Health and Social.
This is a fixed‑term contract from April 2026 to 30th April 2027. What You Will Do
- Develop and deliver high-quality lessons in health education (e.g. Anatomy and Physiology sociology, nutrition, working with families, lifestyle choices etc).
- Use a range of teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs and styles.
- Integrate safeguarding, personal development, and inclusivity into curriculum delivery.
- Encourage positive behaviour and attitudes towards health and wellbeing.
- Monitor, assess, and record student progress.
- Provide feedback that supports student development and achievement.
- Prepare students for internal and/or external assessments.
- Holds a teaching qualification.
- Holds a degree or relevant qualification in Health Education, Science, Public Health, Nursing, Biology, Physical Education, or related field.
- Experience teaching or training in health-related subjects.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development, safeguarding, and wellbeing.
