About The Role
Fixed Term contract for 18 months (duration of the apprenticeship). You will undertake an 18 month apprenticeship to achieve a level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
Level 3 Apprenticeship Rates- Under 18 years - £15,144 per annum
- 18‑20 years - £19,871 per annum
- 21+ years - £23,555 per annum
We are the Independent Learning (iLearn) team for Leeds City College, and we are here to support students in developing their independent learning skills and achieving personal goals.
We are looking for an iLearn mentor to join our team as a mentor who plays an integral role in delivering sessions and 1‑2‑1 sessions to students.
We are seeking someone who can connect with students and provide the best possible service to support their learning and independence. The impact of the mentors on campus is paramount in supporting students, coaching tutors, teachers and curriculum.
What You Will Do- Plan and deliver engaging workshops and support sessions (both face‑to‑face and online) on topics within the independent learning skills menu.
- Create high‑quality, simple‑to‑use learning resources, induction materials, and guides to help students learn.
- Prepare activities and training sessions that are appropriate and relevant to learner needs.
- Support students in small groups and 1‑2‑1s to develop their independent learning, digital, and general study skills.
- Actively promote the development of independent learning skills alongside English and maths skills for all students.
- Effectively manage a caseload of students, scheduling appointments via 121 and monitoring their progress using feedback forms and internal systems (Pro Mon, Navigate).
- Help to maintain a positive, safe, and appropriate environment for all students to study in.
- Support students by maintaining hub‑related resources, including books, Chromebooks and e‑resources.
- Have the ability to communicate and engage with students and curriculum staff at all levels, ensuring relationships are enhanced and collaborative experiences and opportunities are realised.
- Knowledge and extensive experience of skills building in a student or using all medians.
- Knowledge and experience with Google applications e.g. Docs, Slides and Sheets.
- Experience working with colleagues in a cross‑departmental / multi‑disciplinary delivery role.
- Experience in influencing and supporting students to achieve the best by stretching and challenging them through progress reviews and improved outcomes.
- Ability to use your initiative and feedback to improve performance and success of our sessions on a 121 basis and in class.
Annual Leave
Curriculum and Management: 44 days plus bank holidays;
