Overview

Senior Clinical Fellow – The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Department of Urology. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 12 months. Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and must hold MRCS at the time of application. Preference is for FRCS(Urol) or equivalent. The successful candidate will be able to pursue sub-specialty post-CCT level training in Andrological Urology.

Responsibilities
  • To perform clinic duties appropriate to the post, including attendance at outpatient clinics, day-case and inpatient theatre lists, attendance at clinical meetings including MDTs, and maintenance of accurate treatment records including dictation of clinical notes and letters.
  • Contribute to the teaching of nursing, undergraduate and junior medical staff, and to Post-graduate teaching.
  • Perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant, in consultation with senior and junior colleagues where practicable.
  • The specific job plan will be subject to regular review between the appointee and the consultant.
  • Contribute to a 1:9 on-call rota.

Job description and responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Required:

This is a non-training grade Trust Doctor post established to provide the opportunity for an individual to gain post-CCT specialist training in Urology with excellent training to develop knowledge and further experience. The main purpose is to develop Urological skills whilst supporting Service Delivery.

Eligibility, Qualifications and Requirements
  • Be eligible for full GMC registration and hold a current licence to practise at the intended start date; eligible to work in the UK.
  • FRCS (Urol) or equivalent;
    Evidence of achievement of CCT in Urology (or within 6 months of doing so).
  • Evidence of postgraduate training and ability to operate under pressure; effective communication with patients; ability to work in a Multi-Disciplinary Team; awareness of ethical principles, safety, confidentiality and consent.
  • Must hold FRCS (Urol) or equivalent; eligible for GMC registration and licence to practise.
Qualifications and Experience
  • FRCS (Urol), Post-CCT
  • Advanced Life Support Certificate or equivalent as required to complete Foundation competences
  • 1+ year of experience in Urology after GMC registration; evidence of foundation competences
  • Evidence of Andrology experience and post-CCT in Urology
Skills and Attributes
