Overview
Clinical Fellow with interest in Endometriosis. Applicants are invited for posts as Senior Clinical Fellows (ST3-5 equivalent) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with an interest in Endometriosis at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Up to three posts are available. The post holder will work at a level equivalent to an ST3+ trainee. Applicants must have completed Foundation competencies (UK Foundation programme or equivalent).
Basic Life Support training is essential. Current and valid GMC registration is required. Candidates will be encouraged to register and complete pelvic pain SITM. Planned Interview Date 02/03/2026.
The post is suitable for doctors wishing to gain clinical experience at a ST3+ level in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The post offers a wide range of experience in all areas of the specialty. While not recognised for training, the appointee will be supported by a Clinical Supervisor to meet their career and educational goals. There will be opportunities to develop special interests in the following areas:
- Clinical Fellow in Endometriosis (ST3+ / ST6+ Equivalent)
- This post is for a Clinical Fellow in Endometriosis, suitable for doctors working at ST3-5 or ST6-7 equivalent level, depending on prior experience and demonstrated competencies.
- The successful applicant will work within a British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) accredited Endometriosis Centre, gaining advanced experience in the multidisciplinary management of complex endometriosis, including surgical, medical, research, and service-development aspects of care. The post carries a 60% time allocation with the Endometriosis Team, in addition to participation in:
- Full on-call commitments at LGI or St James’ University Hospital (SJUH)
- One Antenatal Clinic (ANC) session per week
- This post is ideal for candidates wishing to develop expertise in endometriosis and progress towards subspecialist practice, advanced fellowship training, or consultant-level roles within endometriosis services.

Gynaecology service locations include St James University Hospital (Chancellor Wing), Wharfdale hospital, and Seacroft Hospital for fertility services. The maternity service is based at St James University Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary, with associated antenatal units and fetal medicine facilities.
Job responsibilitiesThe post will be embedded within the Endometriosis MDT and will include:
- New and follow-up consultations
- Complex counselling regarding medical and surgical management
- Shared decision-making for advanced disease
- Independent clinics as appropriate
- Exposure to advanced laparoscopic endometriosis surgery
- Progressive operative responsibility according to experience and competence
- Peri-operative planning and post-operative follow-up
- Participation in Endometriosis MDT meetings and collaboration with colorectal surgery, urology, pain specialists, radiology, fertility services, and specialist nurses
- Opportunities for regional thoracic endometriosis service involvement
The post carries a 60% time allocation with the Endometriosis Team, and includes on-call commitments and clinic sessions as detailed above.
Clinical, Academic, and Personal Skills- Apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement
- Initial management of acutely ill patients
- Understanding research principles, ethics, audit, clinical risk management, and patient safety
- Evidence-informed practice and teaching experience
- Evidence of academic and research achievements; publications and presentations
- Instructor status (or recommendation) in an advanced life support course (ALS, ATLS, EPLS, APLS) or equivalent
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Completion of Foundation competencies or equivalent
- Basic Adult Life Support training within the past 12 months
- MRCOG Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 exams
- Prizes/Distinctions and Research/Additional academic publications
- Current GMC registration and licence to practise at time of application
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Advanced Life Support certification (as required)
- Up-to-date with training needs and able to practise safely
- Demonstrated written and spoken English proficiency for medical topics
- Register and complete pelvic pain SITM
