SENIOR CLINICAL FELLOW IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ANAESTHETICS (ST6-7 EQUIVALENT)
We are inviting applications to fill our Senior Clinical Fellow vacancy at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in the Department of Anaesthesia.
This post will commence as soon as possible and is a fixed term for two years.
Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice by the intended start date.

The successful applicant will have regular training lists across a broad spectrum of specialties as agreed at interview and will be expected to contribute to the out‑of‑hours service as part of the on‑call team alongside anaesthetic trainees. All out‑of‑hours call rotas are compliant with the European Working Time Directive legislation and the 2016 contract. When not working out‑of‑hours, the successful applicant will have a mixture of consultant‑supervised and solo lists (where appropriate).
Levels of responsibility
The successful candidate will mainly have supervised theatre lists with consultant trainers, but it is envisaged that they will have the opportunity to develop their own confidence in their areas of interest and work with local supervision independently.
The successful applicant will have a named consultant educational supervisor and undergo regular appraisal, actively taking part in the GMC revalidation process. During these meetings any specific training requirements and educational goals can be defined.
Teaching, research, study and training
The post can provide experience in anaesthetic subspecialty blocks not available in most hospitals, subject to availability. We have a strong track record of supporting doctors through the portfolio pathway. If successful applicants wish to pursue this route, we will be fully supportive and facilitate access to all required training modules.
There is an excellent range of postgraduate medical activities directed by the PGME centre, based at both the Leeds General Infirmary and St. James University Hospital.

The department provides anaesthetic and critical care provision across all hospitals covering Major General Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Cardiac, Thoracic, Paediatrics, Transplant (liver and kidney), Ophthalmic, Breast, Endocrine, Vascular, Neuro, ENT, Maxillo‑facial surgery, Trauma and Plastic Surgery, and training in general, neuro and cardiac intensive care medicine.
The successful candidate will join a team of over 150 anaesthetic staff, including more than 130 consultants and over 50 trainee anaesthetists.
