Applicants are invited for a post as Trust doctor/Clinical Fellow (ST3-5 equivalent) in Obstetrics and in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work in afriendly, dynamic, large, teaching acute hospital trust.
Thepost holder will work at a level equivalent to that of a ST3+ trainee.
Applicants must have completed Foundation competencies either as part of the UKFoundation programme or demonstrate equivalent training. Applicants shouldideally have experience at working at a ST3+ level for a minimum of 1 yearideally within the UK. Basic Life Support training is essential.
Candidateswill require current and valid GMC registration at time of application.
Main duties of the jobTheabove post is suitable for doctors wishing to gain clinical experience at aST3+ level in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The post offers the successful candidate a wide range of experience inall areas of the specialty. Whilst this post is not recognised for training,the appointee will be supported by a Clinical Supervisor to meet their careerand educational goals.
Thepost holder will contribute to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology inpatient and outpatient services as well as being part of the second on call rota with an oncall frequency of 1 in 10. The post holder will predominantly work at the SJUHand LGI sites. Duties will involve but will not be limited to working on thelabour ward, reviewing obstetric and gynaecology (including early pregnancy) emergencies and looking after antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology inpatientsas well as attending antenatal and gynaecology clinics.
There will also be opportunities to attend elective gynaecology and obstetric theatres.
Thepost holder will also be encouraged to take part in departmental teaching and quality improvement work.
About usThegynaecology service is predominantly based at St James University Hospital(Chancellor Wing) and some elective gynaecology work including clinics, daycase and overnight theatre and hysteroscopy also takes place at Wharfdalehospital.
Thefertility service is based at Seacroft Hospital.
Thematernity service is based at St James University Hospital (approximately 4,500deliveries per year) and Leeds General Infirmary (approximately 5,000deliveries per year).

Jobresponsibilities
Thepost holder will work on the second on call (ST3+) rota, and as such will takeon the responsibilities associated with this role. The post holder will besupervised by a Consultant during clinical duties whether elective or on calland will be expected to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstratinggood communication skills with all members of the team.
Theweekly timetable will vary from week to week. It will include sessions inantenatal clinic, delivery suite, gynaecology outpatients, gynaecology theatreand the emergency gynaecology assessment unit. These sessions are aimed todiversify the post holders clinical experience, to provide a service and to accommodate the rolling on call rota of long days and night shifts on labourward and the gynaecology acute treatment unit. On call frequency is 1 in 10.
Thepost-holder will always be resident in the hospital when on duty. The Consultant Obstetrician will be resident between on weekdays and
08.30 and 17.30 on weekends. The Consultant Gynaecologist will be residentbetween 08.30 and 17.00 on weekdays and will conduct a resident ward round onweekends. They will remain resident beyond these times if required but willotherwise be on call from home.
Thepost complies with the New Deal requirements and the European Working Time Directive.

Person Specification Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills- Have completed their post-graduate training at least to a level of an ST3 specialty doctor or equivalent in obstetrics and gynaecology
- Have valid GMC Registration at the time of application
- Familiarity with UK health system and NHS
- Is up to date and fit to practise safely and is aware of own training needs.
