Senior Clinical Fellow in the Department of Anaesthetics (ST6-7 Equivalent)
We are inviting applications to fill our Senior Clinical Fellow vacancy at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in the Department of Anaesthesia. This post will commence as soon as possible and is fixed term for two years.
Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a licence to practice by the intended start date.

The successful applicant will have regular training lists across a broad spectrum of specialities, as mutually agreed at interview, and will be expected to contribute to the out‑of‑hours service by being part of the on‑call team alongside anaesthetic trainees. All out‑of‑hours call rotas are compliant with European Working Time Directive legislation and the 2016 contract. When not working out of hours, successful applicants will have a mixture of consultant‑supervised and solo lists where appropriate.
Levelsof responsibility
The successful candidate will mainly have supervised theatre lists with consultant trainers, but it is envisaged that the candidate will have the opportunity to develop confidence in their areas of interest and work with local supervision independently.
The successful applicant will have a named consultant Educational Supervisor and undergo regular appraisal and actively take part in the GMC revalidation process. During meetings any specific training requirements and educational goals can be defined.
Teaching and Research / Study and TrainingThe post can provide the applicant with experience in anaesthetic subspecialty blocks not available in most hospitals, subject to availability. We have a strong track record of supporting doctors through the portfolio pathway. If successful applicants wish to pursue this route, we will be fully supportive and facilitate access to all training modules required. There is an excellent range of postgraduate medical activities at Leeds Teaching Hospitals directed by the PGME centre, which has bases at both the Leeds General Infirmary and St James University Hospital.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals is the main provider of postgraduate training in Anaesthesia in the West Yorkshire region. We have extensive experience supporting and preparing trainees in their professional goals of achieving the FRCA examinations and securing consultant positions. We also encourage participation in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. This post is for an initial term of two years with the option to extend if mutually agreeable.

Our department provides anaesthetic and critical care provision across all the hospitals covering Major General Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Cardiac, Thoracic, Paediatrics, Transplant (liver and kidney), Ophthalmic, Breast, Endocrine, Vascular, Neuro, ENT, Maxillo‑facial surgery, Trauma and Plastic Surgery and training in general, neuro and cardiac intensive care medicine.
The department has over 150 Anaesthetic staff, including more than 130 consultants and over 50 trainee anaesthetists.
