I’m currently partnering with a leading UK house builder to recruit an experienced Senior Buyer to join their Kent division.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing commercial team within a well-established and award-winning residential developer. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for materials procurement, cost control, and financial reporting across multiple live construction sites.
The RoleAs Senior Buyer, you will:
- Take ownership of materials procurement across designated sites
- Manage cost control and ensure strong commercial performance
- Consolidate purchases to achieve maximum economic benefit
- Negotiate agreements with suppliers and manufacturers
- Analyse quotations, prepare tender documentation, and place orders
- Prepare material cost budgets (CPC1) and provide cost advice to Surveyors
- Monitor delivery schedules in line with build programmes
- Resolve discrepancies between orders, goods received and invoices
- Attend site meetings at key project stages
- Monitor rebate agreements and market trends to identify cost‑saving opportunities
Build strong working relationships across commercial, construction and supply chain teams
This role requires someone commercially astute, highly organised, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
What My Client Is Looking For- Proven experience in a purchasing role (construction sector preferred)
- Strong commercial awareness and cost management capability
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong numerical and analytical ability
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
- Working towards CIPS (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of construction regulations and materials
- Experience using COINS
