The client is passionate about training within their organisation. Contractors can progress their professional qualifications and continually develop their skills within the industry. They are members of the Charted Institute of Building (CIOB) and undertake professional qualifications within the membership to expand knowledge and experience in the industry. Their staff members also undertake examinations and progression through the Charted Institute of Insurance (CII) and other professional bodies dependent on the role.

Building Surveyor

Due to continued business growth, we have opportunities within our building surveying division.

• Conduct on-site surveys of properties and buildings, including their surfaces such as driveways, gardens and landscaping
• Produce comprehensive reports with detailed recommendations in line with our clients’ indemnity
• Identify defects and advise on effective remedial works
• Provide guidance on proposed alterations and improvements, including realistic timelines
• Prepare bill of quantities (BoQ), schedules of work and safety assessments
• Advise on relevant legal and planning matters
• Adhere to internal reporting standards

• Flexibility: A hybrid role with a mix of home‑based, office and regular site visits
• Support:
  Scheduling and diary management are handled by a dedicated assistant, allowing you to focus on core surveying duties
• Stability:
  An established client base and a consistent, reliable workload

• Proven experience working as a Building Surveyor
• Relevant qualifications
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
• Flexible approach to working hours to accommodate workload peaks
• Professional and presentable, both on‑site and over the phone
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, legislation, regulations, rectification techniques and current material costs
• Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and various surveying software
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong grammar and spelling
• Organised, honest and a reliable team player

• CITB Health & Safety qualification
• Experience assessing buildings for damage caused by insured perils or working within the insurance industry

8.45‑5.00pm Monday to Friday – Northampton office and home‑based, with regular field work.

Extremely Competitive

25 days plus bank holidays, an extra 16 hours of time off in lieu taken at no more than two‑hour slots which equates to a total of 27 days plus bank holidays. An additional day is also given for your birthday if it falls on a weekday.
