About the role

As a Senior Business Development Manager at Leighton you will have significant enterprise business development experience in consulting or technology professional services and a track record of winning six-figure new business deals. We’re looking for someone credible at C-suite level, aware of the challenges facing CIOs, CTOs and their wider software engineering practices, and able to work collaboratively to deliver success.

The Senior Business Development Manager is a strategic senior manager position focused on driving revenue growth through lead generation, bid management, and sales process optimisation. This role provides an excellent opportunity to help lead SQL generation, lead qualification, and end-to-end proposal management. You will collaborate with senior team members across the organisation to support lead generation activities, sales execution, and deal progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, create and secure new business opportunities: research and identify new business opportunities within the software development industry, including markets, partnerships, and new ways to reach our existing market (initially from your existing network of CIO/CTO’s and CDO).
  • Market analysis: understand the technology, consulting, and professional services landscape, bringing a wider business and technology perspective to your contacts, helping them to understand where challenges lie and unlock opportunities.
  • Strategic planning: develop and implement strategic plans linked to our ICPs to achieve growth and revenue targets, aligning with the company’s goals. Nurture MQLs into SQLs through coordinated campaigns with the Marketing team.
  • Collaborate to win new customers, taking the lead on opportunities from inception to close. Navigate complex customer environments and lead internal teams to close opportunities effectively.
  • Be accountable for delivering an annual new business target, mapping customer challenges to our service proposition. Prepare and present business proposals, quotes and contracts to potential clients, ensuring alignment with their needs.
  • Be the trusted advisor in offering solutions using effective sales strategies by understanding goals, urgencies, and customer experience challenges.
  • Networking: attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to expand the company’s presence and build a network of industry contacts.
  • Reporting and analysis: monitor and report on business development activities and performance, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Manage relationships with lead generation partners.

Organisational Structure

The Senior Business Development Manager will report to the Head of Business Development and be responsible for increasing our customer base. You will have access to our Community Leads, Pre-sales consultant, CRO, CTO and COO and Marketing Team to help you achieve your targets.
