Quality Administrative Officer - Blood Bank

The Department of Blood Transfusion is looking for a Quality Administrator. The successful candidate will work in Blood Transfusion with a team of admin,scientists, nursing and medical staff. This is an exciting opportunity tohelp us shape future service delivery, ensuring that quality and patients areat the heart of everything that we do.

Youwill work very closely with the Quality Manager whose key roles are to leadon Governance (Health and Safety, Risk Management and Quality Management) for Blood Transfusion with a focus on improving the effectiveness of the servicein line with regulatory and accreditation body requirements. You will fulfil your role by providing effective administration support as part of a team utilising common IT packages such as Microsoft Office.

A key aspect will be the generation ofreports from a number of systems. Oncetrained in addition to the admin support you will be involved in a range of activities, either on your own or as part of a team; these could includeincident investigations, Root Cause Analysis, validation of equipment and systems and audit. Quality Administrators are individuals who have a formalrole in the provision of a full and effective administrative and clerical support service to the Department/Service.

Main

duties of the job

In addition to the duties described in the job description, the qualityadministrator role involves the following specific duties:

Compile reports for management meetings.

Provision of admin support relating to management of quality and training records.

E.g.auditing, compiling, archiving.

Performingdata manipulation routines to inform quality/performance indicators and summarise the information in the required format (e.g. dashboard).

Dayto day management of departmental databases relating to quality management.

Helpto manage the maintenance, calibration and servicing of laboratory equipment such as pipettes and thermometers, including performance of acceptance testing where required.

Toact as a system administrator for the electronic quality management system.

Towork with departmental leads to maintain and update the information made available to users via the Pathology Website.

Tohelp the department comply with accreditation body requirements by helping the quality manager to develop fit for purpose quality systems and processes.

Followinga period of training, to perform root cause analysis during routine duties.

Toprovide a full clerical support service to the department includingorganising, sorting and filing documents and papers; dealing with incomingand outgoing paper and electronic post as required; photocopying, faxing and distributing information by post or email.

We cover the transfusionrequirements for four hospitals and two hospices.
