Reporting to the Financial Controller, you’ll take ownership of our technical accounting and act as the main point of contact for VAT and tax reporting. You’ll ensure statutory accounts are prepared accurately and on time, keep us compliant with changing accounting standards, and support improvements across our processes.

This is a varied role where you’ll work closely with colleagues and external partners, provide technical accounting advice, and help deliver reliable financial reporting for the organisation.

Key responsibility areas will also include:
* Prepare and file statutory accounts in line with deadlines and accounting standards.
* Develop and implement a robust half-year end process.
* Support the Financial Controller with statutory reporting and tax filings.
* Strengthen financial controls and review balance sheet reconciliations.
* Lead on VAT returns and drive process improvements.
* Manage corporation tax and gift aid computations with external advisors.
* Liaise with auditors and provide required information and support.
* Resolve technical accounting queries and assist with new business initiatives.
* Maintain and update accounting policies in response to regulatory changes.
* Provide practical accounting guidance for new products and strategic projects.
* Build and manage strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Lead production of regulatory returns such as FVA and ONS.We need someone who’s not just good with numbers but thrives on technical detail and compliance. Ideally, you’ll have:
* A professional accounting qualification recognised in the UK (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
* Strong experience in statutory accounts preparation and VAT (including partial exemption).
* Knowledge of tax reporting and regulatory returns.
* Experience implementing financial controls and working with auditors.
* An understanding of FRS
