Assistant Ecologist

Overview

Ecosupport Ltd are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team for the 2026 ecological survey season. As part of the role, you will deliver a variety of professional ecological services to a broad range of clients and assist the project and senior-level ecologists in carrying out services. Full training is provided.

Ecosupport are based in Lee-on-The-Solent, Hampshire, with travel throughout the region and surrounding counties. Although this is predominantly a field based role, assistant Ecologists are expected to work within the office and field.

• Independently carry out ecological services following training
• Assist with project and senior-level ecologists in carrying out ecological services
• Liaise with clients and other professionals
• Assist with the analysis of technical data, such as bat acoustics analysis, habitat mapping, and use of QGIS
• Produce small technical ecological reports and assist with larger reports
• Complete and lead in-field ecology and protected species surveys
• Potentially use your car for site visits, with mileage and business insurance claimed back (should the pool of Ecosupport cars be in use)

• Relevant degree in a related field
• Strong all-around field skills, particularly in flora and fauna identification
• Strong communication, organisational, and team working skills as well as a positive attitude, self-disciplined, and a desire to learn and be challenged
• Experience with protected species surveys, bat acoustic analysis, and / or QGIS welcomed but not required
• A full drivers licence

Salary: 27k per annum (opportunities for overtime / additional bat surveypay)
