Queenswood School are recruiting for a Level 3 Forest School Lead to join our Education team now! We are looking for a versatile, resilient and committed person, who can adapt their practice wherever necessary to support across all key stages. You will deliver high-quality outdoor learning experiences that promote physical, social, and emotional development through adventurous activities and Forest School principles.

The role combines structured outdoor education with child-led exploration, fostering resilience, teamwork, and environmental stewardship.

Queenswood School is set across two sites in a beautiful rural location in Herefordshire. We are an Independent Specialist day school specialising in the education and care of children and young people between the age of 11 to 19 years who are diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum.

Forest School Practitioner
  • Facilitate Forest School sessions following recognised principles (child-led, holistic development, regular sessions in a natural setting).
  • Encourage exploration, creativity, and environmental awareness through activities like shelter building, fire lighting, tool use, and nature crafts.
  • Observe and assess children’s progress, supporting individual needs and fostering independence.
  • Manage woodland areas responsibly, ensuring sustainability and biodiversity.
  • Embed outdoor learning into the wider curriculum where possible.
Development Of Outdoor Space And Resources
  • Take responsibility for developing and enhancing the outdoor learning environment over time.
  • Source, maintain, and manage equipment and materials required for both OAA and Forest School activities.
  • Work within budgetary constraints and seek opportunities for grants or community support where appropriate.
Essential Skills And Qualifications
  • Forest School Level 3 Practitioner qualification (or willingness to work towards).
  • First Aid certification (including outdoor/forest environments).
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and risk management in outdoor settings.
  • Ability to engage and inspire learners of all ages.

  • Creative, adaptable, and resilient in varied outdoor conditions.
