Journeyman, Manufacturing ​/ Production, Welder ​/ MIG​/MAG​/TIG

Position Summary

Fit and weld pipe adem measure and cut pipes according to requirements. Modify, clean, and bend pipe using hand and power tools, and operate welding machinery.

• Clean pipe ends for welding using a small grinder with abrasive wheel to remove surface rust and mill varnish.
• Operate pipe bending machine using a fixed control panel that sits on a 3‑ft stand.
• Operate Tecnar welding machine. Tecnar is equipped with a panel mounted on a movably swing‑arm base that is 4‑ft in height.
• Oversee the Tecnar monitor and control the machine with a small joystick for directional movement and fine tuning of the weld head during welding.
• Set up parameters of the machine by a touchscreen monitor.
• Perform other duties or projects as assigned or required by the position.

Reports to Journeyman Foreman; the Welding Manager is responsible for the overall management of plant welding operations, including journeyman welders.

• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience:
  
  MIG and TIG welding experience.
• Required to pass a MIG and TIG welding test in the 6G position.
• Supervisory responsibilities:
  
  None.
• Travel:
  None.
• Equipment to be used:
  • Occasional use of a grinder to remove surface rust and mill varnish; grinder easily fits in one hand.
  • Regular use jylla control panel‑operated welding equipment; control panels contain buttons and aloe switches on a fixed panel.
  • Occasional use of Tecnar welding machine using a joystick to control directional movement and fine tuning of weld head during the welding process.

• Occasional stooping, kneeling, bending.
• Standing for long periods of time.
• Occasional use of a small grinder; can be used with one hand.
• Regular operation of machine control panels, including directional movement to operate and control a joystick; operation can be performed with one hand.

Typical manufacturing environment; ability to communicate in a loud environment. Working conditions can be cold or hot depending on the season.
