Dietary Aide (Dining Services Associate)
Department: Dietary
Reports to: Executive Director
Employment type: Part time – every other weekend, 12‑hour shifts
- Serve nutritious meals to residents in a safe, sanitary manner in accordance with Public Health Regulations and the Sanitation Code.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment by practicing safe work habits, using correct hand‑washing techniques, and performing routine cleaning.
- Serve meals in a pleasant, respectful manner, mindful of residents’ special needs.
- Use and maintain all department equipment safely, and clean, sanitize and maintain equipment as outlined in cleaning schedules.
- Prepare the dining room daily: set tables, pour beverages, and clear and clean dishes.
- Follow cleaning procedures when mechanical equipment is unavailable (e.g., power failure).
- Perform other duties as directed by the Executive Director.
- Report any infractions of food‑services policies and procedures.
- Arrive at work on schedule.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Ensure residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring, compassionate atmosphere that respects individual needs and rights.
- Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, or hazardous chemicals per facility policy.
- Report work‑related injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor.
- Complete all assigned training and skill competency requirements.
- Participate in all life‑safety and emergency drills and trainings.
- Fulfill responsibilities during implementation or activation of the facility’s emergency plan.
- Assist with evacuation of residents in an emergency situation.
- Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information, including verbal, written and electronic communications.
- Report non‑compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or confidentiality breaches to appropriate personnel.
- Protect residents from abuse and cooperate with investigations.
- Report any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor or administrator.
- Report any retaliation or discrimination to the Human Resources Director and Compliance Officer.
- Report any suspicion of a crime to law enforcement and the state agency.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
- Physical and sensory abilities:
- Intermittently move throughout the workday.
- Coping with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Adequate vision and hearing, or use of prosthetics that enable these senses to function for job performance.
- General health requirements as set by facility policies, including a medical and physical examination.
- Ability to relate to ill, disabled, elderly, or emotionally upset residents.
- Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of at least 5 feet and over a distance of at least 50 feet.
- Possible need to assist in evacuation of residents during emergencies.
