Job Summary

To provide research experience in the fields of infectious disease, molecular biology, and/or bioinformatics. Employee will assist the PI and her team in federally funded research and may take on an independent research project.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Familiar with basic laboratory technique and safety.
  • Excellent organizational and note taking skills.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working for an organization that values and promotes humanism.
Required Qualifications
  • Work study eligible student in good standing at COMP
    -Northwest.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Interest in gaining laboratory research experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with experimental design and preparation.
  • Assist with data interpretation and analysis.
  • Assist with maintenance of snail breeding colonies.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
Work Schedule
  • 1-10 hours per week

Work Environment

Duties of the position are normally performed in a typical laboratory setting. While performing the duties in this setting the employee is regularly exposed to disinfectants and other toxic or caustic chemicals, lab animal allergens, occasionally exposed to moving heavy pieces of equipment (racks, hoods), and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in this setting is usually moderate.
