Job Summary

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading new product design from concept through launch, with a strong focus on innovation, performance, and manufacturability. Oversees cross-functional engineering teams to develop scalable solutions while establishing robust process controls to ensure quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Drives technical strategy, balances speed to market with risk management, and translates customer and business needs into reliable, production-ready designs.

Supervisory

Responsibilities
  • Leads, mentors, and develops a multidisciplinary engineering team, setting clear goals, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Oversees project execution across new product development and process improvement initiatives, ensuring timelines, budgets, and technical requirements are met.
  • Establishes and enforces engineering standards, design controls, and process governance to drive quality, consistency, and compliance.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and creates development plans for team members to acquire new skills, take on additional responsibilities or close performance gaps.
Job Duties /Responsibilities
  • Lead new product design and development efforts from concept, prototyping, and validation through production release.
  • Define and execute the engineering roadmap to support innovation, cost reduction, and long-term business strategy.
  • Manage cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, quality, procurement, and sales to ensure successful product launches.
  • Establish and maintain design controls, process controls, and engineering standards to ensure quality, reliability, and compliance.
  • Oversee risk management activities including DFMEA, FEA, design reviews, and validation testing.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance, manufacturability, and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate new technologies, materials, and processes to maintain competitive advantage and support innovation goals.
  • Develop and manage engineering budgets, resource plans, and project timelines.
  • Provide technical guidance and decision-making support on complex engineering challenges and trade-offs.
  • Ensure documentation, change management, and configuration control processes are effectively implemented and followed.
  • Acts as a technical product experience and resource to customers and internal teams to assist in resolving product quality and design issues and improving product performance.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves process or facilities maintenance technical issues; assists in evaluating processes and implementing necessary changes.
  • Acts as the company representative to facilitate customer tours and answers process or product related questions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Mechanical, hydraulic, and electric system and design knowledge.
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of testing protocols and results analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge of production principles and procedures.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required; mechanical engineering preferred. An MBA and/or PE license is a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering and/or product design.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse the production facility.
  • Must be able and willing to travel up to 15% of time visiting customers, dealers and working job sites.
