Position Title
Research Assistant II
Position PurposeTo set up and conduct a variety of laboratory tests and experiments in support of research studies directed at Xnew ARPAh-funded APECx vaccine project using artificial intelligence to design vaccines against HSV by applying established methods, procedures, and techniques.
Responsibilities- Conduct laboratory experiments/tests, utilizing a range of established methods, procedures, and techniques with necessary preparations, observe experiments, record observations and maintain laboratory notebook. (70%)
- Prepare appropriate and understandable representations of data such as graphs, charts, tables, statistical summaries, etc. Analyze data resulting from experimentation/testing. Summarize results and prepare progress reports for oral presentation. (15%)
- Instruct others in laboratory methods, procedures, and techniques and provide technical guidance and direction as required. Maintain computerized records associated with laboratory activities. (10%)
- May assist in animal research; including maintenance of mouse colonies, injections, breeding, in vivo assays and entering data into computerized databases. (5%)
- Demonstrates professionalism and collegiality through actions, interactions, and communications with others appropriate to an environment that is welcoming to all. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education and Experience
- Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3 years of relevant lab/research experience
- Competence in several laboratory methods, procedures and techniques as well as the equipment and instruments
- Ability to work independently with good judgment and good organizational and time management skills
- Willingness to work with/be exposed to hazardous materials such as radioactive materials, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals
- Knowledge of computers and software applications
