Medical Specialties on L1WC is a 53-bed inpatient medicine unit spanning two floors, where nurses work three 12-hour shifts each week. This schedule offers more full days off, greater flexibility, and more time to recharge, travel, or spend time with family and friends. This unit cares for medically complex adult patients in a fast-paced, hands-on environment where no two days are the same. Nurses build confidence, sharpen clinical judgment, and expand their scope of practice every shift while caring for patients with conditions such as kidney and liver failure, sepsis, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, cardiac and respiratory illness, complex infections, and post-operative complications. The work is dynamic, collaborative, and deeply meaningful.

In this role, you will:
- Work three 12-hour shifts instead of five 8-hour days
- Build advanced assessment, prioritization, and time management skills
- Strengthen critical thinking and clinical decision-making
- Learn to manage IV medications, drips, and complex care plans
- Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary care team
You will never be expected to figure things out on your own. Every nurse is paired with a dedicated preceptor throughout orientation to ensure a confident and supported transition. This is a unit that welcomes learners, values questions, and embraces collaboration and shared problem solving.
Nurses partner daily with Hospital Medicine physicians and teams such as Respiratory Care, Wound Care, Vascular Access, Infectious Disease, Nephrology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, and Endocrinology. You will gain exposure to advanced technologies and care modalities, including dialysis, high-flow oxygen, tracheostomies, chest tubes, and medication drips such as insulin and heparin.
Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program (BSN with 1+ years’ experience or ADN with 2+ years’ experience).
- Current RN licensure in New Hampshire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, with additional certifications depending on the unit.
