Position Objective

Provide expertise in assigned area of responsibility by:
1) keeping current with the latest technology, trends and best practice;
2) providing guidance, tracking and on-going support for employee training, and;
3) validating staff competency. In addition to performing Technician, I function; supports CSR Manager to facilitate shift operations.

Responsibilities
  • Acts as the point-of-contact for procedural instrument needs and emergent situations in the absence of the CSR Manager.
  • Serves as a designated trainer/preceptor at the direction of CSR Manager ensuring all CSR colleagues are trained in accordance with the department policies and procedures.
  • Works closely with CSR Manager ensuring departmental competencies are complete.
  • Oversee training within area of expertise in the department, including identifying needs, developing training, providing/facilitating training, tracking training, and validating the effectiveness of the training.
  • Contributes to the short and long term departmental planning and strategy.
  • Provides ongoing and annual input on staff performance to the leadership of the department.
  • Participates in the Quality Assurance Program for area of expertise in the department.
  • Assists in the review, development and revisions of policies and procedures for area of the department.
  • Performs operational duties as needed to meet department needs.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Liscensure, Certification, Registration: Required. Must possess certification with either National certifying body (CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA).
  • Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Attention to detail; good organizational skills; basic computer skills.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Sterile Processing environment.
  • Capabilities: Confidentiality:
    Ability to handle confidential material with maturity, sensitivity, and discretion.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to function in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively.
  • Independence: Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize tasks.

Physical Requirements

  • Upper Extremity:
    • Lifting up to 50 lbs
    • Ability to stand and ambulate at least 7 hours of an 8-hour shift.
    • Frequent lifting, stretching, and reaching.
    • Excellent visual acuity necessary with correction (glasses or contacts) 20/30.
    • Auditory senses intact with or without correction
  • Push/Pull/Lift/Carry:
    • Initial push up to a maximum of 55 lbs - 34% to 66%
    • Initial pull up to a maximum of 42 lbs - 34% to 66%
    • Sustained push up to a maximum of 25 lbs - 34% to 66%
    • Sustained pull up to a maximum of 18 lbs - 34% to 66%
    • Lift up to a maximum of 35 lbs - 1% to 33%
    • Carry up to a maximum of 35 lbs - 1% to 33%
Performance Expectations
  • Leads and participates in department planning and strategy; contributes to performance and quality initiatives.
  • Leads staff training, tracks training, and validates effectiveness of training within area of expertise.
  • Participates in the department's Quality Assurance Program and in policy/procedure development and revisions for their area.
  • Performs functional duties to support shift operations and department needs.
