Role Summary

The Tank Farm, Truck & Rail Operator is responsible for ensuring that the supply of solvents and management of waste is provided without interruption of service to support the needs of the facility. The role covers tank farm operations, air emissions systems, and truck/rail car loading/unloading, executing operations per SOPs to safely and compliantly support GMP manufacturing of high-quality medicines. During startup (2026–2028), responsibilities may be fluid as the site builds processes, systems, and culture to support full GMP operations.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure operations maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Ensure areas appropriately support the execution of the production plan for the site.
  • Tank Farm operations, tanker loading/unloading, railcar loading/unloading
  • Carry out daily monitoring, testing, and cleaning duties to ensure equipment and systems are in good operating condition and maintained per local and corporate regulatory requirements.
  • Understand Health, Safety & Environmental requirements and apply Health & Safety/Process Safety standards to execute key GMP duties.
  • Understand other area processes and their operational hazards and respond appropriately.
  • Monitor and collect data on equipment use and performance to anticipate potential reliability problems.
  • Work with Maintenance and Technical Support to respond to potential supply upsets or equipment failure.
  • Contact appropriate help if there is a problem or event (spill/deviation/incident) during processing.
  • Communicate to other shifts regarding the status of area operations and handover details of issues/problems.
  • Participate in daily shift huddles/meetings to understand and set daily operational goals.
  • Actively participate in assigned building/area operations such as safety audits, procedure coordination, housekeeping, and improvement projects.
  • Be trained and qualified on all specified unit operations within the area.
  • Identify concerns for informal or formal discussion (crew meetings, safety representative).
  • Know and follow cGMP practices, safe work habits, plant dress code, hygiene standards, and housekeeping requirements.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Required:

    Legally authorized to work in the United States; no expected visa sponsorship
  • Required:

    Completion of Post Offer Exam or Work Simulation if applicable
  • Required:

    Ability to effectively communicate (electronic, written, and verbal)
  • Required:

    Basic computer skills (desktop software)
  • Required:

    Bend, reach, stretch, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces; stand for long periods
  • Preferred:
    Previous experience in facility/area start-up environments
  • Preferred:
    Experience in utility operations or supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Preferred:
    Solid understanding of FDA guidelines and cGMP requirements
  • Preferred:
    Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple requests
  • Preferred:
    Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Preferred:
    Emergency response experience (industrial, military, volunteer, career firefighter)
  • Preferred:
    Indiana State or IFSAC Fire 1, Hazmat Technician certifications

  • May require short-term assignments (6–12 months in Indianapolis, IN) and travel (1–3 months domestically/internationally) to train and certify on processes; occasional short travel to support equipment testing at manufacturer’s factory
