Lilly is currently constructing a cutting‑edge facility for the manufacture of new modalities including Gene Therapy. At Lebanon, Indiana, this facility will be Lilly’s most technically advanced manufacturing site, focused on delivering the next wave of innovative products. It will include next‑generation manufacturing technologies and advanced data collection and analysis platforms that will improve safety, quality, and process performance.
Position Brand DescriptionWe are seeking a Utilities Operator at the Advance Therapies Manufacturing Site (LP2) in Lebanon, IN. The Utilities Operator is directly responsible for ensuring that the generation and distribution of utility services is provided without interruption to support the needs of the facility. The role is responsible for gray, clean, and plant utilities and directly executes utility operations per SOPs and operational instructions to safely and compliantly support the manufacturing of high‑quality medicine.
Key Responsibilities Startup Phase- Support a safety‑first, quality‑always operations/maintenance team
- Respond quickly and proactively to changing priorities within a reasonable timeframe
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Global Facility Delivery (GFD) to support project delivery and system start‑ups
- Assist in creating and executing procedures such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) work plans
- Support C&Q activities, including shakedowns, initial/operational verification support, and equipment qualification support
- Ensure utility operations maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements at all times
- Ensure utility areas appropriately support the execution of the production plan for the site
- Utilize systems:
Boilers, Chilled Water Systems, Cooling Towers, Compressed Air, Bio Waste, Reverse Osmosis, WFI distillation, and Clean Steam systems - Carry out daily monitoring, testing, and cleaning duties on the above systems to ensure equipment is in good operating condition and maintained per regulatory requirements
- Understand Health, Safety & Environmental regulations and apply safety standards to execute key cGMP duties
- Understand other area processes and their operational hazards, and react appropriately
- Monitor and collect data on equipment use and performance to anticipate potential reliability concerns
- Work with Maintenance and Engineering groups to respond to potential utility supply upsets or equipment failure
- Contact appropriate help if there is a problem or event (spill/deviation/incident) during processing
- Communicate to other shifts regarding status of area operations and details of any issues during handover
- Participate in building & area operations such as safety audits, procedure coordination, housekeeping, and improvement projects
- Receive training and qualification on all specified unit operations within the building
- Follow cGMP practices, safe work habits, plant dress code, hygiene standards, and housekeeping requirements unique to the work area and job classification
- Perform Lock Out / Tagout
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Legally authorized to be employed in the United States (no visa sponsorship)
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with utilities/maintenance processes
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office tools)
- Previous experience in facility/area start‑up environments
- Mechanical trades and prior plant utilities / equivalent military experience
- Solid understanding of FDA guidelines and cGMP requirements
