Job DescriptionThe RAC Mechanic – Refrigeration/AC – Engineering (Engineering – Maintenance – B1-B3) is responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities at the Advance Therapy Manufacturing Site, maintaining assets in compliance with cGMP and ensuring equipment availability and performance.
Responsibilities- Servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining HVAC equipment systems such as chillers, boilers, air balancing, hoods, HEPA filters, and air handlers.
- Engage and own site HVAC program and documentation practices.
- Install and maintain new and existing equipment.
- Support pre‑startup, startup, and post‑startup activities: quality start‑ups, verification, qualification, and ongoing maintenance.
- Respond quickly and proactively to changing priorities within a reasonable timeframe.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Global Facility Delivery to support project delivery.
- Follow maintenance procedures: tag‑out (LOTO), job hazard analysis (JHA), CMMS work plans, data loading, and workflow management.
- Support C&Q activities, including initial equipment start‑ups, shakedowns, verification, and qualification.
- Use Workday for time entry and personal information and Performance Management for objective tracking and development.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on basic heating and cooling systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment failures and make necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
- Read P & and schematics.
- Maintain high‑quality GMP documentation and conduct detailed inspections of HEPA filter systems and related controls.
- Certify and maintain CFC recovery equipment and records.
- Communicate status to Operation shifts, Maintenance, Engineering, Automation, and site customers.
- Identify and implement opportunities for human‑error prevention.
- Use basic CMMS functionality and daily closing notes with work order codes.
- Employ Microsoft Office tools as needed.
- Model company values, standards, and policies within the team and support direct reports in safety practices.
- Facilitate ongoing learning and team reflection.
- Implement changes to work practices in collaboration with team members.
- High school diploma or GED; associate degree or equivalent experience.
- Five years of journeyman‑level HVAC experience in a heavy industrial environment.
- Associate's degree in HVAC maintenance discipline or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting HVAC/RAC equipment failures.
- Experience in a regulated industry; FDA‑regulated experience preferred.
- Ability to perform quality work without close supervision.
- Proficiency in CMMS, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong customer‑service orientation.
- Ability to follow written procedures and perform maintenance activities independently.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Track record of maintaining a neat, orderly work area and good housekeeping.
- One year of process experience.
- Good written and verbal documentation and communication skills.
- Demonstrated record of maintaining a safe work environment and supporting HSE corporate and site goals.
- Willingness to work beyond craft demands, including off‑hour emergencies.
- Position is four‑tens Monday‑Thursday; future shift to be discussed.
- Required to provide off‑hour support; overtime may be necessary.
- ISA for process equipment troubleshooting.
- Good documentation and communication habits.
- Physical ability to lift 40 lbs and work in awkward positions.
- Willingness to support a flexible 24/7 schedule and off‑hour emergencies.
- Knowledgeable of pharmaceutical operations and GMP processes.
- Valid driver’s license.
