Position: Project Controls Manager In Lebanon, IN #3015

About Us

Gray Wolf is a national leader in heavy industrial construction, specializing in complex installations involving steel, millwright, piping, vessels, and electrical systems. We are known for safe execution, high performance, and a commitment to doing the job right.

Position Value Proposition

Gray Wolf is seeking a detail-oriented and execution-focused Project Controls Engineer / P6 Scheduler to support the Central Utility Building (CUB) piping scope on an active construction site. This role plays a critical part in construction planning, schedule development, and progress evaluation by ensuring the project schedule accurately reflects field execution strategies, constraints, and sequencing.

The ideal candidate brings strong Primavera P6 scheduling expertise, a solid understanding of piping installation and industrial construction methods, and the ability to collaborate closely with field supervision to anticipate risks and support informed decision‑making. This is a hands‑on scheduling role focused on supporting construction execution—not a standalone EVM or cost‑loaded reporting position.

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze Primavera P6 schedules for the CUB piping scope that reflect the planned construction sequence and execution strategy.
  • Build and maintain WBS structures aligned with piping systems, work packages, and installable work areas.
  • Develop logic‑driven activities representing constructible piping work, including fabrication, installation, testing, and turnover.
  • Update schedules based on actual field progress, quantity installation, and verified status from site walks.
  • Identify and communicate critical and near‑critical paths, schedule risks, and recovery or acceleration opportunities.
  • Lead and support short‑term planning, including 3‑week look‑ahead schedules and coordination with superintendents and general foremen.
  • Coordinate closely with project management, construction supervision, estimating, and field engineering to ensure schedule alignment with execution plans and constraints.
  • Support schedule forecasting, progress narratives, and explanation of variances as required for internal and client reporting.
  • Facilitate subcontractor coordination meetings to ensure alignment with schedule logic and planned sequencing.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and report schedule deviations or impacts to the project team.
  • Utilize model‑based work packages and drawings to support schedule development and validation.
Qualifications Education & Training
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent industrial construction or scheduling experience will be considered.
Work Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of project controls or scheduling experience supporting heavy industrial construction projects.
  • Experience supporting piping‑focused scopes or system‑based scheduling strongly preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of industrial construction methods, particularly piping installation and sequencing.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and work packages.
  • Experience developing execution‑level schedules used directly by field teams.
Technical Proficiency
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 scheduling.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient with Bluebeam for document review and markups.
  • Familiarity with Navisworks, including use of model‑based work packages, is a plus.
Physical / Site Requirements
  • Site‑based role requiring daily construction site walks.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by project demands.
