Food Unit Lead

Job Overview

Chartwells K12 is hiring a Food Unit Lead to coordinate cafeteria operations for students in the Lebanon Public Schools district. The position is available in full‑time and part‑time shifts.

Location: 479 Exeter Road, Lebanon, Connecticut 06249.
Schedule: Monday through Friday. Full‑time and part‑time shifts may vary; morning shifts are preferred.

• Hourly pay range: $17.50 – $18.00.
• Weekends and nights off for qualifying appointments.

• Coordinate activities of other food‑service employees to create an enjoyable dining experience.
• Oversee the preparation and service of food and beverage items in accordance with company standards for presentation, sanitation, safety, and portion control.
• Plan menus and determine menu items and portion sizes.
• Supervise the scheduling and efficient meal service; monitor serving of meals.
• Respond to customer complaints in person or via email.
• Train employees, assign duties, and coordinate work to promote efficiency and excellence.
• Develop work schedules, manage workflow, and use systems for daily/weekly/monthly reports (inventory, cash, payroll, timekeeping).
• Handle cash deposits, petty cash, and change funds per Food Accounting Manual.
• Order food and supplies from approved sources.
• Maintain overall sanitation and safety of the facility, including scheduling cleaning of kitchen and dining areas.
• Issue written and oral instructions to staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Prior food service experience.
• Serv Safe certification preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency with food service systems and reporting.
