Position

Summary

Serves as a strategic financial leader and member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for financial planning, accounting operations, budgeting, investment management, regulatory compliance, and mergers and acquisitions analysis. Provides proactive strategic counsel to the CEO on growth opportunities and risk management. Ensures the integrity and accuracy of all financial reporting while maintaining strong relationships with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

Financial Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Serves as strategic partner to the CEO, providing proactive offensive and defensive financial strategies to support objectives and mitigate risks.
  • Leads the strategic budgeting process, including creation, monitoring, and quarterly updates, and communicates monthly financial results to management and the Board of Directors.
  • Participates in strategic planning to align financial strategies with corporate objectives in the business plan.
  • Leads mergers and acquisitions evaluation, including financial due diligence, valuation analysis, integration planning, and presenting recommendations to the Board.
  • Analyzes the potential financial impact of proposed regulatory changes and evolving accounting standards, providing forward-looking guidance to senior leadership.

Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting

  • Participates in monthly closing by the 5th business day, ensuring timely and accurate general ledger activities and reconciliations.
  • Prepares and presents monthly financial statements and board reports, highlighting significant changes, variances, risks, and KPIs.
  • Oversees accounting to ensure accuracy, GAAP compliance, regulatory requirements, and timely filing.
  • Prepares required financial regulatory reports (e.g., Call Reports, FR Y-9, state filings) with analyses and variance explanations.
  • Maintains knowledge of GAAP, RAP, and emerging standards; manages tax position, planning, and compliance with external advisors.
  • Guides development and implementation of new accounting systems, procedures, and internal controls; improves existing processes.
  • Coordinates and prepares analyses for annual audits and maintains relationships with external auditors.
Regulatory & Compliance Management
  • Acts as primary contact for regulatory examinations (FDIC, Federal Reserve, state divisions).
  • Prepares examination materials, coordinates requests, and represents the organization with regulatory agencies.
  • Manages relationships with federal authorities and maintains membership compliance with applicable programs.
  • Ensures compliance with banking laws and regulations including BSA/USA PATRIOT Act, AML statutes, and consumer protection regulations.
Investment & Asset/Liability Management
  • Manages the investment securities portfolio with liquidity and regulatory alignment.
