Overview
At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a talented Senior Project Controller, Scheduler to join our dedicated team at our site near Leawood, Kansas.
Responsibilities- Develop, progress, and forecast all phases of the project schedule/plan using the most current industry practices and software.
- Provide planning leadership and integrate with engineering, procurement, cost, technical & construction disciplines for seamless reporting to ensure effective Capital Project Delivery.
- Develop, monitor, and update project plans and schedules encompassing the entire engineering, procurement, construction, and qualification (EPCQ) life cycle.
- Baseline schedules and document the basis for approval.
- Monitor schedule progress, deviations, and variances and assess impacts to the critical/near-critical path activities.
- Assist in developing alternatives for corrective action.
- Analyze schedule input from project partners, including clients, internal teams, vendors, and contractors, to verify schedule durations and integrity as well as evaluate logic and float paths.
- Integrate into an overall master schedule and assure the credibility of the information in the master schedule.
- Make recommendations to manage float and (re) sequence activities to achieve project milestone/target dates.
- Analyze scope changes and change orders for schedule impacts.
- Perform jobsite walks to verify physical progress of scheduled activities.
- Regularly progress and review schedules with the project team to ensure accurate and timely data is incorporated and forecasted.
- Prepare schedule progress reports, trending charts, and schedule analysis with emphasis on data visualization and effective team communication.
- Generate earned value, SPI, CPI, and other schedule performance metrics; maintain a record of scope changes, trends, and variances that potentially affect schedule performance.
- Collaborate with estimating and cost control to resource/cost load schedules as required; support constructability and value engineering; promote continuous improvement.
- Facilitate or participate in project scheduling meetings and planning sessions to develop, refine, and progress project plans.
- Demonstrate excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage large amounts of information to meet deadlines.
- Evaluate schedule risk and perform analysis (e.g., Monte Carlo Simulation) as required.
- At project completion, develop and record the project’s historical schedule information and lessons learned; provide mentorship, supervision, and leadership for more junior personnel.
- BS degree in engineering or related technical field, construction management, or applicable experience.
- 10+ years of professional experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of EPCQ processes in the Pharma/Biotech Industry.
- Understanding of engineering, construction methodologies, and technical documentation.
- Demonstrated expertise in modern planning and scheduling principles, methodologies, techniques, and tools, including CPM, Last Planner, 4D, etc.
- Strong analytical and computer skills with proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and MS Office Suite (MS Excel, MS Access, Power BI, etc.).
- Knowledge of Short Interval Planning Software (Touchplan, vPlanner & other), BIM 360, and other visual and collaborative planning tools.
- PMI, AACEI, or other industry certifications.
- Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods.
- Must possess the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.
- Must be able to climb ladders as necessary.
- Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying working conditions.
- Must be able to adhere to strict cleanroom gowning protocol.
- This position will have 50% travel, or as required by the assigned project.
- You may be assigned to the client site for an extended period.
- Overnight travel or staying in the city of the Client’s location is possible, depending on the assignment.

- You will visit construction sites and will be required to take site safety training and adhere to site safety rules.
- Must have access to reliable transportation.
- Must have the ability to travel and commute on a daily or routine basis.
- This position is a safety-sensitive position; the employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other non-administrative areas.
