Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Overview

The Accounts Payable Specialist supports daily accounts payable operations by performing a variety of essential financial tasks. This role is responsible for invoice processing, purchase order matching, payment processing, vendor maintenance, and special projects as assigned by management. The ideal candidate is self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and able to effectively follow established processes while communicating clearly across departments.

• Execute established accounts payable processes, including the entry, validation, and filing/storage of invoices, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Accurately code payables in alignment with the organization’s accounting structure.
• Verify that all payable transactions include appropriate supporting documentation based on transaction type and expense classification, in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
• Reconcile high‑volume vendor accounts, researching and resolving discrepancies related to purchase orders and invoice processing.
• Identify and resolve vendor information discrepancies, including remittance addresses and payment terms, in a timely manner.
• Monitor, research, and clear reconciling items, transaction errors, and other account discrepancies.
• Ensure financial data is accurate, complete, and submitted within established deadlines.
• Recommend process improvements and enhancements to accounting systems and procedures when appropriate.
• Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Accounts Payable Lead or Accounting Manager.
