- Securely transport detainees between destinations and ensure vehicle safety and proper maintenance.
- Assist management when unique or unexpected problems arise during transportation.
- Review all vehicle inspection reports and develop summaries for Transportation management.
- Verify that all vehicle permits and licenses are in order.
- Ensure vehicles have necessary safety equipment before initiating a trip and notify Transportation management if problems arise.
- Properly track Department of Transportation Hours of Service (DOT HOS) on electronic logging devices.
- Participate in interviewing and screening of applicant Transportation Officers.
- Review all necessary paperwork and ensure that all reports are submitted to Transportation management according to policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all missions meet or exceed PBNDS/FBNDS safety measures while transporting detainees.
- High school diploma or equivalent; must be at least 21 years old.
- Minimum of three (3) years as a Law Enforcement Officer with arrest authority, or three (3) years in Prisoner Handling and detention experience as a Corrections, Detention, or Military Police Officer.
- Two (2) years of driving experience in a transportation capacity.
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
- Completion of an approved training program with certification of satisfactory completion in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
- CDL driver’s license or permit preferred; must obtain a CDL within six (6) months of hire.
- Current driver’s license with no preventable accidents or more than two (2) moving violations in the past three (3) years.
- Passing of company and Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and alcohol tests.
- Ability to work overtime frequently and travel extended periods of time with frequent overnight stays.
- Physical and mental resilience needed for extended hours and high‑stress environments.
- Strong computer skills and compliance with background investigation requirements.
