Job Overview : Core Civic of Tennessee LLC is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment at its Midwest Regional facility in Leavenworth, Kansas. The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care for inmates/residents, including medication administration, patient assessment, emergency response, and coordination with healthcare providers.
This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to work in a correctional healthcare environment, and strict adherence to medical confidentiality and facility safety policies.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to inmates/residents
Execute physician/provider orders and assist in examinations and treatments
Administer and document medications during pill call
Conduct patient assessments for illness or injury and determine appropriate care
Respond to medical emergencies and notify providers for treatment orders
Monitor inmate/resident hospitalizations and coordinate early release when appropriate
Supervise and guide LPN/LVN and medical support staff
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
Assist with sick call clinics and prepare patients for physician visits
Monitor patients with chronic or catastrophic illnesses
Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws and medication protocols
Provide health education and counseling to inmates/residents
Inspect the medical unit for contraband risks and ensure safe equipment storage
Assist with medical program accreditation standards (NCCHC, ACA, JCAHO)
Prepare incident reports and safety documentation
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of employment
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Valid driver's license
BLS
Ability to pass ICE clearance, including background and credit investigation
U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of professional nursing experience
Experience in correctional, acute care, or emergency settings
