We are seeking a dependable and versatile Building Specialist to support facility operations at Hallmark’s Leavenworth location. This role requires strong hands‑on skills, the ability to operate equipment safely, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, functional, and welcoming environment across our facilities.
As a Building Specialist, you will:
- Provide grounds maintenance support, including snow removal using hand tools, applying calcium chloride and sand to icy areas, and ensuring entrances remain clear of trash and debris.
- Perform equipment maintenance, such as sharpening blades, cleaning machinery, and mounting various tractor or truck attachments as needed.
- Support facility operations through meeting room setups, furniture moves, supply restocking, and general building upkeep.
- Handle floor maintenance duties, including collecting and transporting core area trash using a battery‑operated tow tractor (750 lb. capacity).
- Work collaboratively and independently, partnering with managers and teammates to complete tasks and support ongoing facility needs.
- Model safe work practices, following established procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe environment for yourself and others.
- Be available to work overtime as required to support seasonal or project‑based needs.
The ideal candidate is:
- Reliable, safety‑minded, and able to work well independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable performing physical work in a variety of environments, including extreme heat or cold.
- Skilled in operating hand tools, performing basic equipment adjustments, and supporting day‑to‑day facility needs.
- Adaptable and willing to assist with a range of tasks, from grounds work to room setups to equipment support.
- Able to communicate clearly and professionally with coworkers and facility leaders.
- Has some landscaping experience, vehicle maintenance, and power/hand tools or related experience.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
- This is a 2nd shift opportunity, Mon-Fri, 3:30pm - 12am
- Starting pay for this position is $17-$19 per hour
- This position is located in Leavenworth, Kansas. Relocation is not provided.
- Occasional work at other Hallmark facility locations may be required.
- Must work overtime as required during peak seasons.
- This position requires the ability to work in extreme cold and/or heat.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- You're at least 18 years of age
- You're able to read, write, and understand English
- Ability to operate hand tools to perform minor repairs and adjustments to equipment
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to constantly, stand, walk push/pull and reach above shoulder level.
- Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 30 pounds constantly, up to 40 poundsfrequentlyandlift upto 70 pounds occasionally.

Internal candidates:
- Must be satisfactory in attendance and have no disqualifying CR’s for a full 6-month period prior to the date the job posting comes down.
- Must have been in current job for at least 6 or 12 months, depending on current grade.
- 6 months - GA 37 and below, Merit 14 and below
- 12 months - GA 38 and above, Merit 15 and above
