CGS is looking for a former military Cyber Operations expert to provide scenario writing support for the US Army's Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) at Fort Leavenworth, KS.

Our Cyber Scenario Writers provide critical subject matter expertise and develop comprehensive cyber scenario content to support the U.S. Army Mission Command Training Program (MCTP). This role focuses on crafting realistic cyber operational environments, including offensive and defensive cyberspace operations, to enable training units to effectively meet their training objectives during Warfighter Exercises (WFX) and other mission command events. The Cyber Scenario Writer ensures cyber scenarios are integrated seamlessly into the broader training environment, reflecting current threats and operational procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed cyber scenario products and provide expert knowledge on offensive and defensive cyberspace operations to replicate a realistic operational environment (OE) supporting unit training objectives.
  • Create cyberspace storylines and Master Scenario Events List (MSEL) injects aligned with the training objectives of supported units. Storylines include Information Assurance incidents under the G6 and processes for obtaining approval to conduct Cyber Offensive operations through coordination with Joint Electromagnetic Defense (JED), Cyber Support Elements, ARCYBER, and U.S. Cyber Command.
  • Coordinate cyber storyline development within the overall scenario, design effort and support dynamic scripting adjustments during exercises to maintain realism and training relevance.
  • Collaborate with US Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER) to ensure scenario fidelity by integrating current intelligence and real-world cyber threats into training events, enhancing the realism and complexity of the simulated cyber environment.
  • Contribute directly to key exercise planning documents, including Annex B (Cyber Operations), Annex C, Appendix 12, and other related sections of the exercise High Command (HICOM) Operations Order as required.
  • Serve as a liaison between the scenario design team and cyber operational stakeholders to ensure accurate representation of cyber capabilities, restrictions, and command relationships within the exercise framework.
Minimum Requirements
  • Broad technical knowledge of operational and technical requirements of the Cyber Mission Force, Cyber Protection Teams and Combat Mission Teams.
  • Knowledge of ARCYBER mission to configure and properly inject Cyber storylines through JED IAD. Knowledge of Computer Network Defense provides advice on active exploits and threats to the network. Knowledge of identification of key terrain in cyberspace in support of cyber operations. Knowledge of cyber threat objectives and attack lifecycle employed by nation-state advanced persistent threat groups.
  • BS/BA degree with 5 years of military experience, or High School and 10 years of military experience.
  • Requires a TS/SCI clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent military experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in cyber operations, including offensive and defensive cyberspace operations within the Department of Defense or equivalent organizations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Army cyber doctrine, cyber operational planning, and information assurance.
  • Experience developing cyber training scenarios, injects, and cyber-related exercise documentation (e.g., MSEL, operational orders).
  • Familiarity with Joint Electromagnetic Defense, ARCYBER, U.S. Cyber Command, and Cyber Support Elements.
  • Ability to translate complex cyber operations into realistic and training-relevant scenarios for mission command exercises.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Working Conditions

Inside Government training facilities.

Required Travel

Employees will travel to temporary work locations during exercises.
