Credit Controller

Salary: £30,000 – £34,000 per annum

Working Hours:

08:00 – 16:30, 08:30-17:00 or 09:00-17:30

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Credit Controller who ideally has some Bookkeeping experience to join our finance team based in Leatherhead. This is a key role responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing cash flow, and ensuring effective credit control processes to support the financial stability of the business.

The successful candidate will be proactive, organised, and confident managing both transactional finance and customer account relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping Duties

* Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers

* Process purchase and sales invoices

* Bank reconciliations and cash book management

* Assist with payroll processing (if applicable)

* Support month-end and year-end reporting

* Liaise with external accountants and auditors

Credit Control Duties

* Manage sales ledger and customer accounts

* Issue invoices and customer statements

* Monitor aged debtor reports

* Proactively chase overdue payments via phone and email

* Resolve invoice and payment queries efficiently

* Negotiate payment plans where required

* Reduce debtor days and support cash flow management

* Maintain professional and positive client relationships

Skills & Experience Required

* Previous experience in bookkeeping and credit control

* Strong understanding of basic accounting principles

* Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, Quick Books or similar)

* Good Excel skills

* High attention to detail and accuracy

* Strong communication and organisational skills

* Ability to manage workload independently
