Marine Designer

Leatherhead, Surrey (3 days office / 2 days remote)
Up to £52 per hour
6 Month Contract
Outside IR35

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Marine Designer to join a well-established engineering organisation supporting major offshore and marine projects.

This is a contract role offering hybrid working, competitive rates, and the opportunity to work within a globally connected project team.

The Role

As a Senior Marine Designer, you will support the Marine Team in delivering high-quality design outputs across complex projects. You'll liaise closely with multi-disciplinary teams, clients, and vendors, while coordinating with project teams across global offices to ensure deliverables are met within agreed timelines and budgets.

This role will involve both hands-on design work and leadership responsibilities, including mentoring junior designers and managing remote team members.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver marine and structural design work using Aveva Marine
Provide technical guidance and support to junior designers
Manage and coordinate a team of designers working remotely
Break down project tasks to drawing level and estimate required resources
Develop project-specific job notes, guides, and training materials
Organise schedules and allocate resources to meet project deadlines
Liaise with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors
Ensure deliverables are produced consistently and to required standards Requirements

Marine and Structural Designer with formal qualification or significant on-the-job training
Minimum 10 years' relevant experience
Strong proficiency in Aveva Marine (essential)
Experience managing and coordinating design teams
Ability to plan workloads and prioritise effectively
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment
Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced project environment
Comfortable working in a hybrid office-based role

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior-level designer seeking a technically engaging contract role with leadership responsibility, outside IR35
