Senior Airline Analyst – IBA Group
IBA Group Leatherhead, England, United Kingdom
IBA is an award‑winning independent aviation consultancy that advises lessors, operators, financiers and investors globally. We inform decision‑making and support operations across the aviation spectrum. The Senior Airline Analyst will join our Consulting team, reporting to the Airline Analysis Manager, and contribute to our market‑leading IBA Airlines credit product, strategic projects, and sustainable aviation initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities- Research, analyse and update airline profiles within the IBA Airlines product, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial, operational, and jurisdictional information.
- Monitor industry news and developments, providing insights to clients through thought‑leadership marketing pieces and project work.
- Communicate effectively through written reports and slides for project work.
- Produce Operator Risk Assessment reports and QA the work of junior analysts, improving quality and efficiency.
- Assist in developing methodologies for risk assessment and data analysis within the IBA Airlines product.
- Conduct market research and perform both quantitative and qualitative analysis, gathering intelligence from multiple sources including our extensive aviation data sets.
- Build small operational models to support analysis in project work.
- Collaborate with other teams within IBA to deliver components of larger projects within internal deadlines, managing smaller projects effectively.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 2:1 degree in economics, engineering, mathematics or another numeracy‑heavy discipline.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in consulting or other dynamic, analytical industry roles.
- Strong analytical and problem‑structuring ability.
- Ability to work precisely and productively within a team, meeting deadlines.
- Project organization and clear communication skills.
- Fundamental understanding of financial analysis and airline strategy.
- Strong verbal and written communication, teamwork, and relationship‑building skills.
- Strong, demonstrable interest in and passion for the aviation industry.
- Motivated to learn, self‑develop, and strive for high performance.
- Highly experienced in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience across multiple divisions of an airline or in airline strategy.
- Further understanding of aviation business, finance, aircraft technology, and sustainable aviation issues.
- Financial qualifications (e.g., CFA) or working towards them.
