Wild West Systems is a defense technology startup redefining autonomous edge defense through modular, AI-powered weapon systems - designed, built, and launched in the USA.
We're looking for a hands‑on Talent Acquisition & People Ops Lead to help us build the team that builds the product.
This is not a corporate HR role. You will own recruiting end‑to‑end for manufacturing, engineering, and operations, moving fast, locally, and with extremely high standards. If a process doesn't exist, you build it. If hiring stalls, you unblock it.
What You'll Do- Drive full‑cycle recruiting for machinists, mechanics, engineers, and ops roles
- Build local Austin / Central Texas talent pipelines
- Partner directly with leadership on hiring priorities and timing
- Run tight interview loops and close candidates
- Establish early‑stage people ops foundations (onboarding, compliance, documentation)
- Analyze trends in compensation and benefits
- Proven recruiting or HR experience in fast‑moving environments
- Hands‑on experience hiring technical, manufacturing, or operational roles
- Strong judgment, bias for action, and comfort with ambiguity
- Startup, hardware, manufacturing, or defense experience a plus
- Minimum 5 years of talent acquisition experience, preferably in a manufacturing facility
- SPHR, PHR, SHRM‑SCP or SHRM‑CP certification preferred
- U.S. citizenship / ITAR‑compliant status required
