American National is actively seeking a full-time Senior Accounting Analyst to join our ever-growing investment finance team. The investment department is a high-profile unit that is directly involved in new initiatives that support organizational goals. In addition, you will be provided opportunity to develop or enhance your skills. To thrive in this position; you should be curious, agile, comfortable managing your work independently, have working knowledge of GAAP standards, exposure to investments or financial reporting, and professional industry experience that may include investment management, reconciliation, and technical reporting.

Onsite Placement Locations:
Houston, League City, and Galveston Texas

How you will make an impact:

• Oversee organizational investments that may include (Fixed income, bonds, stock options, equities, and private placements)
• Ensure timely settlement of trades
• Prepare, review, and/or analyze GAAP and statutory financial information related to the company’s fixed income, equity, derivate, and alternative investments for internal and external reporting
• Manage month end reporting, ensuring timely closing of the investment accounting sub ledger
• Actively assess alternative investment options that include coordinating with our third-party service provider, ensuring journals are complete and accurate
• Perform accounting research as required for new investments, accounting standard updates, and changes
• Aptitude to provide innovative tactics concerning hedging strategies
• Execution of operational processes in the subledger that support the derivative accounting
• Perform control functions to safeguard compliance

Qualifications required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance or equivalent industry work experience considered
• Exposure to investments
• Financial reporting experience
• Basic understanding of GAAP accounting standards
• Ability to work hours outside of normal business operations during peak periods

Salary for this position can range from $74,000 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $95,000 for more highly qualified candidates at the Analyst job level. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skills, and education.
