Education Administration, Summer Seasonal
Assists with providing services to teens, ages 12-18, through program planning and implementation, reference instruction and searches, and readers’ advisory. This is a seasonal position for the summer. The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Assists with planning, preparation, and leading programs of special interest to teens
- Maintains Summer Reading Challenge prize distribution and assists patrons with Beanstack usage
- Prepares content for, creates, and updates Lib Guides for teens
- Attends and assists with library outreach events
- Provides readers’ advisory and technology assistance for teens and adults
- Assists patrons of all ages in obtaining information from library resources
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week
- Must be available to work any combination of days, evenings and weekends
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Professional experience working with teens, ages 12-18, required (only professional experience will be considered; please detail your specific professional experience in your application)
- Public library experience preferred
- Any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the level of required knowledge and abilities will be considered.
- Knowledge of teen interests, literature, and trends.
- Ability to navigate the library catalog, library calendars, Sirsi Dynix, Lib Guides, and other platforms or willingness to expand skill set to keep current with advances in technology.
- Ability to communicate clearly, interact with the public effectively, and speak in front of groups.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
- Skills in customer service and ability to adapt/respond to different types of people.
- Skills in Internet, Microsoft Office, Meta Business Suite and Canva

Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in a sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (10-15 pounds).
Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a work station or keyboard.
