In this position you will serve as a first and/or second level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing and exercising control over supervisory and nonsupervisory employees assigned within a Security Forces Squadron. Plans, organizes and directs the activities within a Security Forces Squadron, ensuring that administrative security programs comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organization and squadron objectives.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through subordinate supervisors. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Interviews and selects candidates for subordinate non-supervisory positions and recommends selection of subordinate supervisory taking into consideration skills, qualifications, and mission requirements. Responsible for ensuring installation and unit security programs through the appropriate interpretation, planning, organizing, developing, and implementation of guidance and policy contained in a number of DoW/AF regulations concerning US National Security is successfully accomplished.
Establishes all unit security policies. Represents the flight and squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with wing, complex, and assigned or tenant organization command and security offices.

- This is a Testing Designated Position. The employee is subject to random drug testing.
- Department of Defense Physical Security Certification conferral(s) are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification. The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- The employee may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty
- The incumbent’s work schedule will be aligned to allow full participation in all integrated base defense, security, resource protection, and anti-terrorism exercises.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to supervise and lead a team, plan, organize, and direct functions and mentor or motivate team members.
- In-depth knowledge of security concepts to include a wide range of security disciplines, concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices in order to independently manage assigned programs and to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the installation.
- Expert knowledge of state-of-the-art detection and surveillance systems, construction standards, automated data processing systems and other security concepts to integrate the requirements of all security disciplines into implementable guidance.
- Must be able to obtain Department of Defense (DoD) Physical Security Certification conferral(s) within 2 years of the established employee entrance on duty (EOD) or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DoD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification.
- Expert knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to conduct surveys/studies, accomplish projects, and effectively evaluate results for the effective management and completion of programs.
