Job Description
A Medical Assistant has accountability for providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This will involve caring for patients with acute and chronic needs and communicating clearly with patients through telephone and in‑person interactions.
Shift Details27 hours/week, part time. Clinic hours are Monday‑Friday 7:30am‑5:30pm. Schedule will be 3 nine‑hour shifts per week with varying days between Monday and Friday. Candidates must be able to work any day Monday‑Friday between 7:00am‑6pm.

As a Medical Assistant at Intermountain Health, you will support our clinical team through the following responsibilities:
- Providing patient care under the direction of the clinician, assisting the provider to gather information relevant to the patient’s visit.
- Communicating clearly with patients via telephone and in‑person interactions.
- Collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality patient care with attention to detail and follow‑through.
- Proof of completion of a Medical Assistant program, at least one year of Medical Assistant work experience, or an active RN/LPN license in Utah.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, obtained prior to the start date.
- Basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry.
- Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and PHI.
- Utah Only:
If certified with less than one year of MA experience, completion of a year‑long MA residency program may be required.
- Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
- Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
- Current national MA certification from RMA, NCMA, CCMA, or CMA.
- Ongoing need to see, read, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment.
- Frequent verbal communication with providers, patients, and visitors, especially during emergencies.
- Manual dexterity for handling delicate equipment and frequent computer use.
- Ability to lift, transfer, and move patients and heavy supplies.
- Ability to assist with patient transport and navigate crowded rooms.
- Standing in a stationary position for extended periods.
- For roles requiring driving, safe vehicle operation is required.
