Position: Patient Services Rep (Float)

Patient Services Rep (Float)

Tanner Clinic

Location:

Salt Lake City, UT

Salary: $17.00-$23.00 per hour

Position type:
Full-time, Entry level

Immediately available – must be able to travel to any Tanner Clinic locations and work various hours between 7 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional urgent care hours.

Essential

Job Responsibilities
  • Greet patients warmly and promptly
  • Gather patient and insurance information accurately and efficiently
  • Collect and process co‑pays at time of service
  • Generate fee slips, obtain necessary signatures on legal documents
  • Answer, screen, and redirect phone calls, take messages as needed
  • Enter patient data into the EHR system
  • Direct and escort patients to physician offices
  • Provide appointment scheduling information to patients
  • Assist patients with wheelchair use and accompany them if necessary
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and secure work area
  • Work urgent care hours if required
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Education
:
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Experience
:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to establish immediate rapport with patients
  • One year of customer service or reception experience in a health care environment (preferred)
  • Previous healthcare experience and/or familiarity with medical terminology (helpful)
  • Experience with business office equipment (credit card machines, fax machines, printers, etc.) (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic computer and mathematics skills
  • Understanding of medical terminology and organization services
  • Proficiency with multi‑line phone system, including call transfers
  • Excellent customer service ability, including calming irate callers and patients
  • Adequate hearing; clear and audible speech
Work Environment

Well‑lighted office environment; primarily seated (~90%) with occasional walking/standing.
