Education: Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: Performs skilled/professional-level tasks under limited supervision to provide services to children/students with deficits in articulation, language fluency, and voice. Works with teachers and the Special Education Coordinator to enhance student self-esteem and personal growth. Meets with parents and staff to improve learner outcomes. Uses discretion, ingenuity, and independent judgment to address various challenges.
Specific Training/Skills: Requires job-specific skills with occasional updates to meet changing conditions.
Physical RequirementsExposure to various situations may range from remote to frequent, depending on circumstances.
Duties, Responsibilities, and Essential FunctionsThe following are representative of performance expectations. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.
- Assist in identifying and referring Speech-Language Impaired children. Perform speech-language assessments.
- Participate in comprehensive staffing and coordinate information flow among service providers.
- Prepare detailed speech-language reports and make intervention recommendations.
- Attend eligibility meetings presenting evaluation results.
- Consult with school personnel and parents on therapeutic management.
- Write and implement IEPs.
- Maintain confidential records, document progress, and prepare evaluations.
- Document speech services and complete Medicaid forms.
- Provide in-service training to staff and parents.
- Travel to various sites to provide services.
- Attend workshops and continuing education to maintain certification and licensure.
- Supervise and direct SLPAs as per license requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
