CNC Machinist - Profile Grinder; 2nd Shift

Overview

Set up and operate precision CNC Profile Grinding machines following approved and safe work procedures. Ensure parts meet specifications and quality standards through measurement and inspection.

• Set up and operate precision CNC Profile Grinding machines, in accordance with approved and safe work procedures.
• Square parts on all 6 sides and program the machine to create elaborate profiles in the grinding wheel to transfer the profile to the parts.
• Remove, dress, and install grinding wheels on machines, applying knowledge of abrasives and grinding procedures.
• Plan and schedule work, set up equipment and tools using various devices, machine attachments, and fixtures.
• Machine precision steel parts.
• Ensure conformance to specifications using CMM, height gauges, micrometers, and other precision measuring devices to adjust wheel profiles and achieve drawing-specified dimensions and overall quality.
• Evaluate and maintain results to ensure parts are within specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Maintain surface finish requirements.
• Complete work orders, associated documents, and labor as required.
• Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, following manufacturer instructions, and arranging repairs as needed.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of operation processes.
• Perform first piece inspections (FAI) to verify accuracy before full production runs.
• Record part counts, runtimes, and process data accurately in production documentation or ERP system.

• Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Must be very organized and thorough, following all procedures for quality and safety.
• Must be able to manage time to meet deadlines.
• Have CAM knowledge and programming experience.
• Conversational machine programming experience.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and CAD drawings.
• Inspection experience and ability to use precision measuring devices for overall quality.
• Knowledge of proper health and safety measures.
• Desire to learn and grow within the company.

• Must be very organized and thorough, following all procedures for quality and safety.
• Ability to work well in a team environment and be self-motivated to work alone.
• Must be reliable and able to work overtime and weekends when needed.
• Must be detail oriented and organized.
• Knowledge of the metric system (preferred).
• Must be able to lift/push/pull to 50 lbs.
• Ensures conformance to specifications using CMM, height gauges, micrometers, and other precision measuring devices to adjust tools to produce drawing-specified dimensions and ensure overall quality.

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED
• 3+ Years' experience in Profile Grinding
• Journeyman Certification a Plus or Educational Equivalent
• Must be detail oriented and organized
• Knowledge of the metric system (preferred).
• Must be able to lift/push/pull to 50 lbs.
• Understand and practice safe working methods
• Basic understanding of tools
• Be willing to work to ISO / QS 9000 standards and have a commitment to continuous improvement
