Overview
North America’s largest independent manufacturer of assembled corrugated and chipboard box partitions is hiring a Production Technician for the team in Lawrenceville, GA. The Production Technician plays a pivotal role in the manufacturing process, engaging in both CNC and manual machining tasks. This position involves programming with Mastercam and designing components using Solid Works, thereby contributing to the creation of custom-built machines.
The technician will also fabricate parts and support research and development initiatives aimed at equipment enhancement. Individuals who thrive in this role are self-motivated and adaptable, capable of managing diverse tasks while collaborating closely with engineers. The environment values flexibility and problem-solving skills, making it essential for the technician to be resourceful and innovative in their approach to mechanical challenges.
- Set up and operate CNC machines, including programming with Mastercam.
- Perform manual machining on various equipment.
- Assemble custom-built machines for packaging processes.
- Make mechanical and electrical modifications to existing equipment.
- Support R&D projects for new machine designs and improvements.
- Use Solid Works for design work, including parts and assemblies.
- Create and modify CNC programs in Mastercam.
- Diagnose and repair machine components, fabricating replacement parts as necessary.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure project success.
- Maintain a self-directed workflow with minimal supervision while adapting to changing tasks.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in machining, machine building, or a related field.
- Ability to set up and operate CNC machines, not merely load parts.
- Skilled in traditional manual machining techniques.
- Experience with Mastercam for CNC programming.
- Familiarity with Solid Works for mechanical design.
- Broad mechanical aptitude for assembly, modifications, and troubleshooting.
- Basic understanding of electrical and mechatronics systems, including motion control and servo systems, preferred.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Flexible and adaptable to varied tasks, including machining, assembly, and R&D.
- Strong problem-solving mindset for troubleshooting and innovation.
