ResponsibilitiesThe Oncology Clinical Social Worker provides a wide variety of psychological and social work interventions to the center’s patients, families, and significant others. These services are designed to remove psychosocial barriers that inhibit the treatment process. The Social Worker provides crisis intervention, distress screening, risk assessments, and connects patients to community resources. They provide support services to patients to meet individual needs, coordinate treatment, help the client achieve the best possible functional level, maximize symptom self-management, and enhance quality of life and recovery.
Qualifications- Master’s degree from an accredited program in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related mental health discipline with an emphasis on clinical experience.
- Three years experience past Master’s in the mental health field.
- One year of experience working with oncology patients
- Licensed as a LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) or LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)
- Must be CPR certified.
- Prior clinical experience providing outpatient mental health or inpatient psychiatric services.
- Specialized training in cancer care through continued education and on the job experience
